Question
I've built a FORM at my America Online web site to gather information about my clients, and use it as an order form, as well. I've been told that I need CGI (Common Gateway Interface) programming to make the form run. America Online doesn't allow CGI on their web servers?! How can I use my form?

Answer
Here's a common "work-around" to the problem. Use this hypertext to have the information sent directly to your e-mail box, without using CGI scripts.

  1. <FORM ACTION="mailto:yourusername@yourserver.com" METHOD="POST" ENCTYPE="tex/plain">
  2. Subsitute your user name for "yourusername" and your Internet server name for "yourservername." Example: joesmith@aol.com
  3. The ENCTYPE="text/plain" option will send the information back through your e-mail box in uncluttered, easy to read, plain text.
